I am 20 years old, and I have many certifications in the welding department and I have recently completed the Flour Daniel Pipe welding program. I am having a hard time finding a job because I have such little experience. I have held one welding job as a stainless steel tig welder but that was in 2008. So I was wondering if I could enroll in the armed forces as a welder and work not fight.
Yes you can. You can join as a tradesman under a civilian contractor. You wont be military, or be allowed to fight, unless your contracted to do so. If you want to weld, you can find some contractors for working on Aircraft in the Air Force. Doing so would require a background check and security clearance depending on the aircraft. Average pay I've seen was $20 an hour and above. You will be working along side military personal and other civilian contractors. Hope this helps.
