right where the spool meets the sleve of welder gun....if i do get this together how will stainless weld on mild steel ., i have safety equip just don't have much reference on this machine or application help ! please
It sounds like to me that you have the wrong size wire for your welder. There should be a mark on the welder somewhere stating the wire size e.g. .027, .035, etc. If you are going to use stainless wire then you will need to use argon gas . Stainless wire should really be used for welding stainless steel. You really should use a mild steel wire to weld all other kinds of steel. You can use either carbon dioxide gas or a tri- mix. Some welders don't require gas at all if you are using flux cored wire.
The smaller the wire size , the thinner the metal that can be welded. If you are using small wire then you can only weld up to about a 1/4 " thick steel on a single pass. The small wire isn't recomended for welding anything thicker. But you can weld metal very thin with the thin wire
