Isn't Jeff Lacy one of the sad stories of boxing?
Just was reading Dan Rafael's scorecard on ESPN Boxing and noticed that Jeff Lacy lost again in his hometown of St. Petersburg, FL to a journeyman named Dhafir Smith. Talk about a sad story. He started out with so much potential from the 2000 Olympics to being the IBF Super Middleweight champion. Ever since his lost to Joe Calzaghe, he's never been the same.
Hopefully this doesn't happen to Victor Ortiz and Paul Williams.
Wow... I had no idea that Jeff Lacy had a recent fight. After reading the results of that fight though, this should spell out the end of a career for Lacy. I felt Lacy's career was pretty much done after his should injury, especially seeing that he was barely winning fights with majority decisions and losing to Jones and Taylor. Now, after losing to a guy who has a record of 23 wins, 19 losses and 7 draws, I'm willing to safely say that Lacy is done.... at least I hope. A sad story indeed.
