does every type of welding require a gas canister? i saw a video on youtube of someone tig welding and he said tig welding worked using electrisity, so does that mean it dosnt need a gas cansiter? or does it?
MIG/TIG welding which are pure argon as this is used as a shielding gas to protect the weld from the air atmosphere to stop the weld contaminating Argon is usually used in TIG & CO2 & argon mix used in MIG. With MMA (Manual metal arc welding) the rod has already got a shielding gas which is the flux on the rod.
In gas welding Oxygen & Acetylene are used with the mix off these two gases in a welding torch creates a flame about 6000 degrees which when using different oxygen pressures can solder,braze,weld or even cut with a cutting torch attached
