How do you make a Corner Lift-top Table?
I want to build a corner lift- top table similar to the Mendam by Ashley Furniture. I want to make it a little bit smaller but i don't know where to start or how exactly the mechanism works.
The spring assisted lift mechanism found in most pop-up tables requires a minimum size in which to fit - trying to fit that into a triangular space may not be possible. The lift mechanism is rectangular, so your 'triangle' would have to be large enough to allow the mechanism to fit within it.
Another option is a 'powered lift' mechanism, which has an electric motor. These types of lifts are often sold as kits to raise/lower televisions, one of these would be easier to fit into a tight space than the spring lift mechanism, but can be expensive.
One more option, if you're creative, you might be able to adapt a gas charged cylinder (found on most office chairs, for example, or automotive parts, like hood, or rear hatch door assists).
