Is it possible to weld different metals GTAW?
Is it possible to TIG weld metals like Brass, Copper, Silver, Gold, Titanium, and Platinum with the right tungstun?
I am a sophomore at a regional vocational high school and I am taking Metal Fabrication & Welding. At this shop I have stick welded (SMAW), I have MIG welded (GMAW), and I have TIG welded (GTAW), I have TIG welded on several types of metal, (steel, stainless steel, cold-rolled steel, hot-rolled steel, and aluminum). However, today I was forced to braze a piece of brass together and then I got this question. Hope you can help me =)
Yes. You are essentially melting the material together. I have tig welded Copper, Ti (not oxy/acetylene weldable), Silver, Gold, and Platinum. I have not done brass but I don't think that it would be impossible.
