I am having problem with my little Fire Power 110v mig welder. It doesn't make any crackling noise like it should...its just a steady hum. Also the nozzle is getting VERY hot, much hotter than the nozzle gets on my millermatic 210. I welded for maybe 30 minutes and the wire got melted to the tip causing the wire to jam in the welder about 6 or 7 times. Whats going on here?
Look up in the user manual the "Duty Cycle".
Duty cycle tells you what is the maximum current that can be welded with for a specific time which is given percentage of 15 minutes.
For example I looked up the user manual of your Fire Power 110V and it specifies:
88Amps at 20% which means that you can weld with 88 Amps for a total of 20% of 15 minutes which is 3 minutes!!!
Anything higher than that will overheat and potentially destroy your welder. That is why your nozzle overheats as well.
Regarding the hum noise of the arc instead of crackling noise - that is a sign of too high voltage for the given wire feed speed. Try to lower the arc voltage.
