Can you tell me why my 95 Pontiac Bonneville security light is coming on and my car won't start?
Recently, my car started not cranking when I would turn over the key, because the security light on the dash would come on. I would have to wait a few minutes until the light goes off then it would crank, after a few days of this, it would not crank at all. I have checked fuses, new battery, starter, etc and nothing seems to help. The key does have a chip in it, so I am not sure if it is that or maybe the ignition, or maybe the security module??? Anyone have any suggestions other than taking it to the dealership?
VATS system does not work that way. Letting it sit will for 10 mins will not help. Most likely the wires from the ignition lock cylinder are broken. They run from the lock cylinder down through the steering column.
Putting a resistor in the wires will work, but that is not fixing the problem, it is by-passing it.
