I bought Canon PwerShot A630 about 8 months ago. First the digital terminal to plug in the interface cable broke off, which was not too bad of a problem for I just bought a card reader to by-pass cable issue. Then out of the blue, the flash stopped working. I was taking pictures, with the flash, at a parade one minute, the next minute, the camera would not work unless I turn the flash off. According to Canon, the only thing I can do is to send the camera to their repair place and have it fixed. Has anyone else had any problem with PowerShot A630 or is it just me? Is there any other way to fix the flash? Canon tech dude told me that there's nothing I can do except to send it in to them (and be without my camera during this holiday season for a month or two!!).
Yes, that is the way it is. At least it is under warranty. No loaners unfortunately.
Out of the tens of thousands of cameras sold every month by Canon, there are bound to be one that has problems.
If you can shoot all your images without using the flash (use your available light techniques) through the end of the year, you can then send it to Canon for repair.
