Do I need a Calcium Reactor?
I have recently set up a 210 gallon saltwater reef tank.. I will have many many corals in this tank with a few fish. I was curious if i should invest into a Calcium Reactor or not.. What does it do and is it worth having??

A calcium reactor maintains calcium and alkalinity levels in a reef tank by breaking down aragonite media with CO2. Depending on what type of corals you are keeping, you may or may not want to invest in a reactor. SPS and hard corals that demand lots of calcium would benefit from having a reactor. It will keep the calcium and alk more stable and the reactor will take the place of you having to add liquid calcium and buffers to the tank. Is a reactor necessary...no. Can it make life easier...yes. My suggestion is to determine how much calcium additive you are going through to maintain your levels. If you are going through many bottles of calcium and buffer, I would suggest investing in one as it will save you time and money in the long run.
