I was using my computer recently and had a power cut, since then when ever I put a blank disc in to burn something my computer crashes all the time, is it anything to do with power cut?
Has anyone got any ideas how I can resolve this problem, as I am left with a computer that can not burn anything, Thanks in advance .Kenco
It is likely that your power supply was damaged by the power cut. The reason it would crash when you put a blank disc in the burner, is that the optical drive is trying to spin up, drawing more current. Apparently, this is enough to overload the power supply. To confirm, put a factory pressed CD in the burner, such as a music CD. If the computer crashes, that would enforce my suspicion that you probably have a weak power supply.
On a side note, if it is a weak power supply, it is likely that the power supply was going bad a long time before the power cut. But the power cut didn't help any. It might have worsened the problem.
