What is a single phase or three phase voltages? Welder?
I capitalize all of the words I don't know. Please explain these very simple. I'm new at this and is confuse. and asked a question ate the end of the sentence to show you what im having trouble with
The smallest Plasma Arc Cutting unit
The simplest unit use FILTER, compressed air FOR PLASMA AND COOLING GAS. what do they mean?
Some of these small air unit contain their own air compressor, to supply gas for cooling and PLASMA GENERATION. What does the air compressor do?
COMMERCIAL-GRADE PORTABLE UNIT are available that can operate on various SINGLE-PHASE or THREE-PHASE VOLTAGE. I really lost here?
some guessing here
a plasma is ionized gas. you can either get gas from a cylinder, or use air. it would be filtered to remove any dirt that might damage the ionizer. The air is also used to cool the machine, otherwise it would get too hot and melt or burn out.
the air compressor compresses air to a higher pressure than atmospheric, so that the plasma can be directed against the work like a water hose.
single-phase AC is normal household mains electricity, on 2 wires (neutral and live). The live voltage oscillates between +120V and -120V.
Three-phase AC is used in industry, on 3 wires. The voltage between each pair of wires varies I think between +/- 200V, with the voltage to ground from each oscillating from +/- 120V. The current available is generally larger, to power big motors, so it's good for connecting other powerful machines.
