Do the original amc 360 pistons come apart from the piston rod?
I have an amc 360 and I have a new set of pistons to replace the old ones. but I cant get the piston rods off. does anyone know if they don't come off or how to get them off?
Pistons are attached to the rods by wrist pins. They are sometimes press-fitted on and have a circlip to retain them. The manual for your specific engine will tell you what the situation is. Last Time I needed to put on new pistons, I took the old ones, rod and all to a machine shop and got the job done. A couple of old pistons got crushed in the process of disassembly. You could try pushing out the wrist pins with a big c-clamp, but you risk damage. Start with the book- Chiltons Auto Repair manual is good.
