I need to weld something on my car. I dont have gas and want to know what type of wire do i need. I think its the flux core wire but not sure.
Anyone have any suggestions of brand? I have never bought flux core wire. WHich wire would be best for my job
I have a Lincoln Electric 110V unit, and I've found that the best general purpose wire I've used is a 0.35 flux core wire (Lincoln # NR-211-MP). its a great general gauge wire, and I've welded up to about 16 gauge mild steel on it with good results. I've run lighter gauge metal with this wire, and once I dialed in, it left a good bead.
There may be different recommendations based on what unit you have - plus you should make sure your gun tip and unit support the wire you buy.
You didn't mention exactly what you're doing or what welder you have - there may be some additional recommendations depending on the thickness metal and how heavy-duty your unit is. You'll definitely want the best performer if you're doing frame welding or other structural work.
