How come the wireless signal from a home theatre system remote is short?
Like the remote distance, I have two (home theatre systems) in my home, 1 sony and 1 panasonic and both of them are terrrible, the sony being a bit better at like 5 metres range but the panasonic is appaling I have to be within 30 cm for it to work. Why is this?
It is an optical link, not wireless.
Locate the IR sensor on your 'system' and wash the front with a bit of glass cleaner. Make sure you have an un-obstructed view of the sensor from your couch. (Pulling the receiver forward on the shelf or getting it off the floor can help.) Also - wipe the LED on the remote.
If you still have problems, consider buying a universal remote that has a much brighter LED and tries a lot harder to work with a bunch of different gear.
