96 Lincoln Cont. Are the electric cool fans supposed to continue to run cooling engine after car is turned off?
96 Lincoln has been overheating, so replaced double fan unit, coolant temp sensor, thermostat, did fine when I picked up from mechanic and long drive home but today overheated on short trip and cooling fans werent running and then after I cooled it off 3 gallons coolant later and finished drive back home fans were running again and didn't overheat
Yes, they are, it is called thermal cooling dumping. It allows the engine to cool in a controlled manner. It's nothing to worry about, the engine cooling system is designed to do that.
