i would like to take a kit car to jamaica and assemble it and make it road legal, any ideas , have you done this? is it possible?expensive?
there are 3 magazines in the uk which focus on kitcars, theyre all sold in whsmiths, total kitcar, complete kitcar and kitcar magazine.
you can build a car for as little as £2500 if you have access to a good scrap yard (theres a book you can buy called 'how to build a sportscar' by haynes for this) other kits start from around £2-3k, these will need lots od donor parts from a scrap yard, and usually you can add extras, or get a complete kit which has most the pieces and these start at around £8k.
get a magazine and see what you fancy and how much they are. as for shipping, i have no idea, but im sure its possible, but if you use that book the idea is you can just use donor parts, but others you will need to ship the fibreglass panels out there and maybe the chassis too.
there are lots more expensive kits, like replicas, these start at £6-8k for basic kit and rise to £15+k for complete, these are usually based on cars like the MR2 so you would either need to ship one over or source one over there.
