2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo lunges at idle?
When in park or drive when stopped, you can feel it lunging forward about every 10 seconds . Just did an oil change with full synthetic oil and changed the spark plugs. Also put a bottle of Lucas gas treatment in about a week ago. It has 120k miles, inline 6 engine. I just bought this Jeep about 2 weeks ago. I did not notice the Jeep doing this before I did the work listed above. I don't know much about Jeeps, this is my first one. Can somebody please help me find an answer to this problem?
Thank you everyone for all of the input, I really appreciate your time. It is now fixed. My husband is who did the tune up. After I told him the answers I had received, he went out and took the plug boots off and put them on again. That fixed it...one of then had to have been loose. Thank you!
Pop the hood and listen for a ticking. My first guess would be you didn't get one of the spark plug boots on all the way.
Assuming you put it into the right amount of gas, the Lucas "treatment" shouldn't cause any problems. (But it's not going to actually do much either way, either.) It's another possible cause, though. Crap happens.
