Planning to get my first dslr....is this first setup a good buy?
I'm planning to get my first DSLR next month. Here is the package I'm planning to get:
Canon EOS 400D (body only)
EF-S 18-55mm IS lens (for my gen. purpose walk around lens)
EF 50mm f1.8 II lens (for portraits)
Total: $750 USD
This fits my budget. Do you think this is a good DSLR setup?
And also, when buying separate lenses, do they get separate lens caps?

Additional info:
I was supposed to get the 400D with the kit lens, but many advised me just to get the body and get a separate EF-S 18-55mm IS instead.
I'm not considering the 450D for now, since it's still too expensive, as compared to the 400D which is almost half the price.
The camera is a good first choice but skip the 50mm 1.8, it's really a waste of money, even the basic 18-55 will do for portraits when you get a little more experience splash out for a Canon 17-55 f/2.8 and a 70 - 200 f/2.8.
But if you really want to do just portraits then look at the Canon 85 f/1.8 or the 135 f/2
