is the copper wire coming from my gas meter probably grounded?
there is a bare copper wire coming out of the sheathing of the pipe which brings gas toward the shutoff valve and meter. is this likely a functional grounding point used when operating the valve?
I'm not looking to mess about with it. I'm just looking for a suitable grounding point to discharge any static electricity so I don't cause a spark while dealing with the gas lines.
just for fun... if you dig around a little bit, you should also find a traicer wire...hook both of them up to an electrical plug and plug it in... let my know how that works out for you... kinda curiouse.
