In my truck, when I fill up with a certain Gas Station's gas, it will last me a lot longer than if I fill up with the same amount at another station. Do they have better gas? What is the difference?
Does gas REALLY have water added to it? Is that good for my engine?
Well, all pumps are calibrated differently. If one has been calibrated recently, it will probably be more accurate. Also, if you fill up at night at one station and during the day for the other, you will notice a slight difference. You get more gas out of the pump at night than during the day (vaporization). One fuel may be more "pure" than another. I use BP which doesn't really have any additives, and get much better MPG on that than with the overrated Chevron junk. Too many additives, gunks up the fuel pump. All hype that garbage. Probably something I'm missing.
No, gas does NOT have any water in it. That would rust and hydrolock the motor. They DO add more ethanol (alcohol blend) during the winter, and now that petroleum is high, they are adding more and more ethanol mixture to fuels. Ever hear of E85? Well, "gasoline" is "E10" in the winter (10% ethanol, 90% gas).
