The hose running from the top of the gas tank down into the center of the handlebars, what is it used for and is it needed.
Is it needed? I have a bike sitting in my shed, it has been stored there by a relative for 4 years and I decided I am gonna use it, but I don't know if it will hurt the bike because there is no hose there at all.
I forgot to mention the bike is a 1984 Honda XL185
ya its needed. its your air vent.
the hose is so no dirt gets in the gas tank. if their was no hose the dirt could go in the hole where the hose is suppost to be. if there was no hole then no air could get in. if no air could get in, gas would not flow out to your carburetor.
So just leave it on there. i know they don't look great, but they have to be there because you do not want dirt in your gas.
No, it wont hurt to drive for a while. i would advise getting one when you have the chance though. So go ahead and ride it
