I have had a sea fox 19' center console I got new since 2004, and it has a fairly large gas tank for a smaller boat (60 gal). I have noticed that the gauge seems to not want to drop much below about 19-20 gal on the reading. I suspect its stuck, I don't know much about tanks ang gauges, maybe a stuck float in the tank? I cannot get to the tank the way its built in under the floor. All there is is a filling cap on one side of the boat like most have with a screw on stainless cap. The filler pipe doesn't go straight down directly to the tank, so I can't really drop a stick in there to feel the bottom or measure it manually. ITs hooked up to one of the Mercury smart-craft digital gauges to read the gallons of fuel in the tank. Do some boats have a problem with this, be it a stuck float or a mis-reading level of gas in the tank? I am not sure the best way to resolve it.
there is most likely a small access port in the floor of your boat at some point to allow access to the tank, the level and the plumbing.
open those up, look for the sending unit. it will be the one with wires. disconnect the wire and look at your gauge. reading should drop to zero. put the wire to ground, reading should go to max.
if readings do that, sending unit is bad.
