How stable is potassium perchlorate and sugar as rocket fuel?
I really like the bright white flame , but I have heard how unstable potassium chlorate is, but how about potassium perchlorate with powdered sugar? I read a few small blurbs on line about it but it seem that there is no details like how safe is it and what percentages? nozzle size etc.
So any suggestions on mixing ratios and nozzle sizes for 3/4 id tubes? I was going to try 65 % potassium perchlorate to 35 % sugar as a starting ratio
Relative to chlorates, perchlorates such as potassium perchlorate are very stable and will only decompose upon ignition. A mixture of potassium perchlorate and sugar should stay stable indefinitely, provided it doesn't encounter an ignition source.
