mig welding pay ?????????
i was just wondering i am 24 years old and have only had factory general labor experience? i was sent to school to learn an 18 week welding course at a community college mig, tig, stick, fluxcore, some blueprint reading. i have been given the oppportunity for a mig production job for 10 dollars an hour in michigan which is where i live
i have been on unemployment for 8 months now? is this a good job they say it could get slow this fall? or should i look for something else
welders let me know thanks j
Yes it is a good job. Take it. ANY job is better than NO job. If you weren't drawing unemployment, I doubt you'd be asking this question.
You could conceivably ask for slightly more pay. Say, $11-12 per hour. $10 is low, even for an entry level welding job. The best time to do this is right after you ask them when they want you to show up for work. Also, most managers will respect the initiative required to negotiate a higher wage.
That's up to you; whether you think it's worth the risk. If you're willing to prove you're worth it on the job, then go for it. Another suggestion is discussing the possibility of getting a raise after a trial period, say, six weeks.
Good luck
