I am new to welding and I have this gokart which is pretty much completed. however, some parts have been really annoying since they are moving around and now that i have an electric arc welder, i would like to weld these aprts onto the frame permanently. The engine is on the frame. Is it safe for me to weld things onto the frame with the engine on the frame? or will this mess up the electronics of the engine? Also, is it possible to weld the engine onto the frame. For example, weld the housing of the engine onto the frame?
I just want to know if this is possible without destroying the engine. I dont mind destroying the housing by making it burnt and so on its just the electronics of the eingine im worried about.
YES, It is possible to destroy the engine. The engine is aluminum. You need to weld a bracket to the frame on the go-kart, and bolt the engine to the bracket.
