How can we make an estimation for consumable welding electrode for construction of a steel structure?
My client hase asked me to prepaire two proposals for construction of an offshore platform. First one without cost of welding electrode and second one, including the cost of electrode.
I just only know the weight of main steel structure!
it will depend upon the length......so u calculate all lengths ...inall sides ....then crosses...then hieghts ....offshore needs stability ...strenth to absorb the riggs , vibrations .....i think each member may be welded ...about 1.5 to 2 inch ....cross xtionally ...this will give the volume .....x density of steel [may be 40 ...60 steel ]....it will give you quite ...near to exact weight of welding rods required ....[steel 60]......like in boc [uk ] standards ...of hardex 250 to 350 .....experices tell about 10 %...from weight vise .....u can estimate for ome member ....u know lenghts ...but u have to see the welding drawings .......if there is .....as 10 %...may estimate ...but start proviosion from 1%.....and keep for 10 % in bugeting .....not ordering .....it will be safe ....
