In Industrial piping what is the difference between a swage and a standard concentric reducer?
A swage will allow a pipe of the SAME nominal size to be inserted into it for subsequent brazing, welding, or other. This helps the lengths of pipe to be joined to remain in alignment.
A concentric reducer on the other is used to join pipes whose sizes are NOT the SAME.
