Cat Question... do cats do this?
A MYSTERY! For some reason, an orange tabby has mysteriously decided to adopt me! It came from nowhere and just started hanging out on my deck. It is completely comfortable on my bar-be-que and sits against my deck door as if he owned the place.
He also scratches himself like a dog, comes when I call him (he's been named Tig), wants to be scratched, pays attention and meows for comfort rather than food..... He's very cute, sweet and affectionate.... not quite how I've always thought of cats! I thought they were aloof and (for lack of a better word) snobby towards owners....
Not that I'm sure I'm an owner.....
I'm not sure what to do or why the cat has adopted me! He has no collar and has not left my property since he arrived. Is this normal cat behavior or am I just lucky? I've never had a cat (family members with severe hair allergies) and I'm not quite sure what to do....
Some cats do, some don't. My sister adopted a neighbours cat -it started going in their house as soon as they moved in. They took it to the vet to check it wasn't microchipped, and found that it belonged to a nieghbour. But they then adopted the cat from them.
I have two cats, one is very aloof, and i would be very surprised if she went to other people. The other will go to anyone, and we have been told by people they let her in their house and feed her. -I wish they wouldn't as she's a really fat cat, and it's bad for her health!! Plus, she's our pet!!! -Both our cats are microchipped and wear collars though.
I'd advise that you go to the vet with this kitty, they can check for an owner and may know if she's missing even if she doesn't have a chip. If she's a skinny cat it's an indication she's not being cared for.
If she does have an owner the vet should contat them for you. If not i'm sure they will have no problem with you adopting her.
It's best to be sure if she's got a home already, because if you're going to look after her she'll need flea treatments and injections -dont want to be giving them twice!
Hope she finds the best home!
