Can just opening a container of makeup contaminate it?
Like a bottle of foundation that has a pump on it. (Some brands of makeup don't have the plastic wrap stuff around the cap.) If I were to unscrew the cap and compare the color to a dot of foundation that is on my hand (from a foundation I already own) without touching the (new bottle) foundation to my skin. Would that contaminate it?

No, you won't. Don't confuse brand new with "sterile". New makeup of any kind is NOT sterile. This means that it has every day bacteria present in/on it. You will not contaminate it at all by exposing it to air. Go ahead, compare the two!
