The SEC was warned years ago, and due to "deregulation" they seriously dropped the ball on this guy.
You are incorrect. Yes, the Feds dropped the ball but it had nothing to do with deregulation. They did not enforce the REGULATIONS that were already in place.
Madoff is a perfect example of what is wrong with a lot of the people in our country. Just plain greed combined with a lack of integrity. We see it in business and in government...and unfortunately in a lot of the run of the mill citizens. We have forgotten what it means to be honest...even those of us who think we are more honest than the average person, probably wouldn't hesitate to get the best of a deal if the other person wasn't aware of a problem. We lie on our resumes, gossip about our coworkers and our boss and fudge on our work and/or hours. I see this all the time. It has become the accepted way of doing things. But that doesn't make it right.
